State President Luong Cuong extends 2026 Lunar New Year greetings
VGP – Vietnamese State President Luong Cuong extends the best wishes to all Vietnamese compatriots, people around the world and international friends on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Horse.

As a new Spring – the Spring of the Year of the Horse – has arrived, State President Luong Cuong extends his best wishes for a peaceful, healthy, and happy New Year to all Vietnamese compatriots, comrades, soldiers throughout the country, and overseas Vietnamese people.
The State President also extends his best wishes to the people and friends around the world, wishing them a new year of peace, happiness, and shared development.
He recalled that Viet Nam has gone through the Year of the Snake (2025), marked by many important events and proud accomplishments despite numerous difficulties and challenges.
Equipped with unwavering resolve and self-reliance, the entire Party, people and army have united, joined hearts and minds, and leveraged the strength of the whole nation and the assistance of international friends to achieve all the main objectives set forth, he stressed.
Notably, Viet Nam managed to maintain independence, sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, and a peaceful environment for national development; become one of the fastest-growing economies in the world and a high middle-income country, the State President stressed.
The Southeast Asian nation paid due care for social security, maintained and enhancing socio-politic stability, national defense and security while promoting external relations and international integration, and elevating its international standing and prestige, thus creating key foundations for the country to enter a new era of development, he added.
As 2026 is the first year of implementing the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress, the entire Party, people and army will continue to unite and work together to utilize all opportunities and overcome all difficulties and challenges; strongly promote the spirit of confidence, self-reliance, self-strengthening, and national pride; ceaselessly innovate and take drastic actions in order to successfully realize the goal of building a peaceful, independent, democratic, prosperous, civilized, and happy Viet Nam.
According to the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress, Viet Nam targets to accelerate annual GDP growth to at least 10 percent between 2026 and 2030, and increase GDP per capita to around US$8,500 by the end of his decade.
The human development index is projected to reach around 0.8 while life expectancy is expected to increase to 75.5, with healthy life expectancy reaching 68 years.
Multidimensional poverty rate is expected to reduce by 1-1.5% per year during the 2026-2030 period.
