Standing Vice Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee named
VGP – The Politburo has assigned Minister of Construction as Standing Vice Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Municipal Party Committee.

Nguyen, aged 49, become an alternate member of the 11th-tenure Party Central Committee in January 2011 and served as Deputy Minister of Construction between November 2011 to February 2014.
From February 2014 to February 2020, he was Vice Secretary of the Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Kien Giang Provincial Peopple's Committee, and then Secretary of the Kien Giang Party Committee.
From October 2020 to April 2021, he returned to the post as Deputy Minister of Construction. On April 8, 2021, he was appointed as Minister of Construction.
The Ho Chi Minh City Municipal Party Committee is currently led by Politburo member, Secretary Nguyen Van Nen who is assisted by Phan Van Mai, Nguyen Thi Le, Nguyen Phuoc Loc, and Nguyen Thanh Nghi as Vice Secretaries.
Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam's biggest economic engine, posted the GDP growth of 7.17 percent in 2024 compared to 7.92 percent in 2023.
The Southern metropolis targets to accelerate GDP growth to at least 10 percent in 2025./.
