Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc congratulated the Ambassador on the start of her tenure in Viet Nam, expressing his confidence that with her working experience, the Ambassador would have a successful tenure and make important contributions to advancing the Viet Nam-U.S. Comprehensive Strategic Partnership towards a stable, substantive and effective manner.

Viet Nam consistently regards the U.S. as one of its partners of top strategic importance and wishes to work with the U.S. to fully leverage the strategic values of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework and deepen bilateral cooperation, Pham affirmed.

He went on to say that economic, trade and investment cooperation will remain a driving force, while science and technology, innovation and human resource development will become strategic and long-term areas of cooperation.

Pham urged the diplomat to push for high-level exchanges and substantive enforcement of bilateral agreements to ensure the stable and long-term advancement of the bilateral ties, thus bringing practical benefits to people of the two countries while contributing to peace, stability and development in the region.

Viet Nam is pursuing a new development model in which science and technology, innovation and digital transformation are identified as key drivers, he noted, adding that the Southeast Asian nation welcomes American businesses to make long-term investments involving advanced technologies, technology transfer, human resource training and stronger linkages with Vietnamese enterprises.

He called on the two sides to promote economic and trade cooperation in a harmonious, sustainable and mutually beneficial manner, promptly address outstanding issues, soon conclude negotiations, and sign a reciprocal, fair and balanced trade agreement, thereby creating a stable framework for businesses from both countries to expand investment, production and business activities.

Wicks, for her part, recalled her meeting with General Secretary and President To Lam, during which both sides shared the view that Viet Nam-U.S. relations have never been better than they are two day.

The diplomat also expressed her honor of being entrusted by U.S. President Trump with the task of advancing relations between the two countries, expressing confidence that the two sides would achieve substantive results in implementing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

She affirmed the U.S. commitment to supporting a "strong, independent, resilient and prosperous" Viet Nam, emphasizing that economic and trade cooperation remains a top priority during her tenure, while cooperation across all other pillars would also continue to expand.

The diplomat spoke highly of the Vietnamese Government's efforts to improve the legal framework and business investment environment, as well as strengthen dialogue to promote cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
