Specific plans must be launched to ensure national energy security: Deputy PM
VGP - Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son asked for diversifying sources of energy imports to ensure energy security amid complex developments of the military conflict in the Middle East.

Bui stressed the point on Thursday during the first meeting of a working group established by the Government to minimize impacts of the ongoing military conflict in the Middle East.
At the meeting, members of the working group updates the developments of the military conflict and the situation regarding Viet Nam's production, supply, and import of gasoline, oil, and coal.
They discussed both short-term and long-term measures to ensure energy security for achieving the GDP growth goal of at least 10 percent in 2026 and the following years.
Addressing the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister said that the situation is evolving very rapidly and complicatedly, with significant impacts on countries, especially in the field of energy.
Bui emphasized the need to put in place specific plans to ensure national energy security, such as increasing the capacity of hydropower and coal-fired power plants, diversifying sources of coal imports and making maximum use of domestic fuel resources.
He tasked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to closely monitor and update energy policy responses of other countries, and work with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and other relevant agencies to diversify sources of energy imports./.
