Singaporean Prime Minister to pay official visit to Viet Nam next week
VGP - Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and his spouse will pay an official visit to Viet Nam from March 25-26.

The visit will be made at the invitation of Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his spouse.
Earlier, from March 11-13, General Secretary To Lam and his spouse paid an official visit to Singapore at the invitation of Lawrence Wong, Prime Minister of Singapore, Secretary-General of the People's Action Party.
The two leaders agreed that the strategic partnership and the green-digital economic partnership, established in 2013 and 2023 respectively, have brought more substance to bilateral relations. The two leaders decided to elevate Viet Nam-Singapore relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
The two sides pledged to continue to strengthen mutually-beneficial cooperation and political trust, enhance coordination in addressing contemporary challenges on the basis of respect for international law, each other's independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political systems and non-interference in internal affairs, bringing about practical benefits for the two peoples as well as ASEAN's unity, resilience, centrality and inclusivity, while striving for peace, stability, and development in the region and the world.
Singapore was among the first ASEAN countries establishing a strategic partnership with Viet Nam in 2013. Alongside their strong political ties, economic and trade cooperation between the two nations stands out as a key highlight in the Southeast Asian region.
Since 1996, Singapore has consistently been one of Viet Nam's biggest partners. Bilateral trade reached US$8.3 billion in 2021, over US$9.16 billion in 2022, US$9 billion in 2023, and US$8.64 billion in the first 10 months of 2024.
As of October 2024, Singapore remained the leading ASEAN investor and ranked second among 148 countries and territories investing in Viet Nam, behind South Korea. Singapore invested in 3,838 valid projects with a total registered capital of US$81.1 billion./.
