At the seminar, former Deputy PM Vũ Khoan stated that, by joining the global trade organization, Việt Nam has managed to increase its export turnover and FDI, better its social awareness of integration issues, and perfect its system of legal documents.

Through adapting to the crisis, Việt Nam has an insight in the global economy and the Government and business circle of Việt Nam can successfully respond to negative impacts, said Mr. Khoan.

The former Deputy PM also underlined that international missions and assignments taken by Việt Nam have proved the country’s increasing international status and helped to boost up the attraction of external resources.

However, Mr. Khoan suggested, to become an industrialized country by 2020, Việt Nam should focus on restructuring its economy, developing new energies and technologies, adopting more flexible policies and making accurate predictions.

Also at the seminar, many attendants pointed out weaknesses which should be dealt with in the time to come, particularly doing weekly or monthly market forecast; managing imports, eradicating poor-quality goods and protecting consumers.
