Russia lifts temporary import ban for Vietnamese aquatic products

VGP – The Department of Animal and Plant Quarantine of the Russian Federation (VPSS) has recently announced a lift of temporary import ban for seven Vietnamese aquatic producers to the Russian market and the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.

The announcement was made after Russian President Vladimir Putin had signed to ban food imports from Western countries for one year.  

Vietnamese Trade Counselor in Russia Pham Quang Niemassessed that this is a good opportunity for Vietnamese enterprises to penetrate into and strengthen their footholds in a large market like Russia, especially amidst the fine relations between the two countries.  

Viet Nam owns vast advantages of farm and food products, said the Vietnamese Trade Counselor.

Mr. Niem also encouraged domestic enterprises to actively seize the chance to secure a firmer nitch there.

The Trade Counselor also proposed the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development early reach agreement with the Russian side on food safety of imported meat./.
