Routes Asia 2022 opens in Da Nang
VGP - The central city of Da Nang is hosting the Routes Asia 2022, the most prestigious route development forum in Asia, from June 6-8.
The event attracts the participation of 500 delegates from 200 airlines, airports, and aviation services suppliers from 42 countries and territories all over the world.
Routes Asia 2022 provides a platform for policy-makers from the region's airlines, airports, tourism authorities and aviation stakeholders to come together to develop network strategies and ensure future air service development across Asia-Pacific.
Routes Asia 2022 is expected to be a driving force for Da Nang to achieve its targets in resuming the international flight network and offering favorable conditions for tourists, businesses and investors to come back to the city.
It is also expected to create an opportunity for the city to expand connections with important aviation hubs from the US, Europe and the Middle East; while promoting new routes to potential markets in Southeast Asia, India and Oceania.
In 2019, Da Nang opened its first direct flights with Doha, Qatar, and 160 destinations of Qatar Airways, with new flights connecting the Republic of Korea, Indonesia, Japan, Chinese Taipei, India, Australia, and Russia having been planned.
By September 2022, nine airlines will resume regular flights on 10 air routes connecting the city with Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, the Republic of Korea, Japan and India.
Da Nang International Airport is designed to handle 28 million passengers and 200,000 tons of cargo by 2030.
Da Nang, with its beautiful beaches and other stunning tourist sights, targets 3.32 million domestic tourists and 180,000 foreign visitors this year.
Viet Nam fully reopened its borders since March 15 after nearly two years of closure. It has resumed its visa exemption policy for citizens from 24 countries, including ASEAN members, Japan, South Korea and several European economies.
