Rice export turnover soars in H1
VGP - Viet Nam shipped 3.52 million tons of rice in the first half of 2022, earning a revenue of US$ 1.72 billion, up 16.2 percent in quantity and 4.6 percent in value, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
In the January-May period, the Philippines remained the biggest importer of made-in-Viet Nam rice by occupying 43.6 percent of the total rice exports with 1.27 million tons, representing year-on-year increases of 34.8 percent in quantity and 17.7 percent in value.
In the reviewed period, Viet Nam’s rice export to the U.S. surged by 71.3 percent. The U.S. Department of Agriculture reported that American people prefer Vietnamese delicious rice like ST25.
In addition to the U.S., the EU also imported high-quality rice from Viet Nam. In the first half of 2022, 500 tons of “Viet Nam Rice” had been shipped to Germany, the Netherlands, and France.
The Viet Nam Food Association (VFA) forecasted that despite the fluctuating import market and strong competition, Viet Nam's rice exports are estimated at 6-6.2 million tons, equivalent to that in 2020 and 2021 and earned US$ 3.2 billion in revenue./.
