Foreign arrivals to Viet Nam reach record high in first quarter
VGP - The number of foreign arrivals to Viet Nam increased by 30 percent on year to over 6 million over the first quarter of 2025, the highest ever quarterly figure.
Of the figure, 5.2 million travelled to Viet Nam by air. the General Statistics Office reported.
During January-March period, China was biggest source market with 1.6 million. South Korea came second with 1.3 million visitors, followed by Taiwan, Japan, Cambodia, India, the U.S. and Australia.
Tourists from Russia, Cambodia, the Philippines and China made a strong comeback, up 210 percent, 205 percent, 195 percent and 178 percent, respectively.
In addition, arrivals from Poland and Switzerland rose by 52.9 percent and 14.1 percent respectively compared to the same period in 2024.
This growth was attributed to the Government's issuance of Resolution 11/NQ-CP, which grants short-term visa exemptions for citizens of Poland, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland from March 1 to December 31, 2025. This policy is expected to serve as a driving force in attracting more visitors from these three European markets throughout the year.
March alone saw over 2.05 million international arrivals, a rise of 28.5 percent year-over-year.
This year, Viet Nam targets to lure approximately 22–23 million international visitors./.
