Quang Ninh licenses  Ha Long-Van Don Expressway projects

The 60 kilometre, four-lane highway will be built using the BOT (build-operate-transfer) format at a total cost of roughly VND14 trillion ($644 million), with BOT capital accounting for over VND10 trillion and the remainder sourced from the State budget and other sources.

The A-class Ha Long-Van Don Expressway measures 59.7km long and 24.5m wide, accommodating four lanes with a designed speed of100k per hour.

The Ha Long-Mong Duong segment of National Highway 18 will be upgraded from two lanes to four lanes, with a width of 20.5m and a length of 31km, and a designed speed of 80km per hour.

The new highway is also expected to reduce the volume of traffic on National Road 18, which itself will have a section upgraded, and shorten travelling time from Hanoi to Ha Long city and Van Don district’s Economic Zone.

This is expected to encourage further investment activities and socio-economic development in QuangNinh and key northern areas.
