Promoting tourism in ASEAN

VGP – The Việt Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), in coordination with Vietnamese embassies in Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia, plans to launch a tourism promotion campaign in the three countries.

Việt Nam hosts the ASEAN Tourism Forum in 2009
The campaign lasts from March 1-6 to lure more ASEAN tourists to Việt Nam. Seminars and presentations introducing the country’s cultural traditions, landscapes and business opportunities in tourism sector are the main programs of the campaign.

Moreover, various tour packages and new policies such as express grant of visas at border gates and allowance of right-hand drive vehicles will be introduced.

The campaign is part of a national tourism development strategy themed “10 ASEAN countries – One Destination” launched by the VNAT to strengthen the cultural linkages, spiritual values and mutual understanding among ASEAN members.

Over 100 tourist companies and officials in charge of tourism, trade, aviation and press in Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia are expected to attend the campaign.

Việt Nam targets to lure 4.2 million foreign visitors this year, as compared to 3.8 million last year.
