State President Luong Cuong held talks with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung on the sidelines of the 32nd APEC Economic Leaders' Week in Gyeongju on October 30.

Lee congratulated Viet Nam on its development achievements, reiterating that South Korea stands ready to accompany with Viet Nam on its future development journey.

He said South Korea will strengthen ties with Viet Nam in technology transfer and development of supporting industries, expressing his hope that Viet Nam will continue supporting South Korean enterprises in expanding investment in the country, especially in key areas such as infrastructure, energy, and new urban development.

President Luong emphasized that Viet Nam consistently attaches great importance to advancing cooperation across all sectors with South Korea in a more substantive, effective, and sustainable manner.

He called on both sides to work together to soon achieve the goal of bringing the bilateral trade turnover to US$150 billion by 2030.

Luong congratulated South Korea on successfully hosting the 2025 APEC Economic Leaders' Week, hoping that South Korea will support Viet Nam during the APEC Year in 2027.

The two leaders vowed to continue promoting all-level delegation exchanges, effectively implement existing cooperation mechanisms and enhance the substantive implementation of cooperation documents signed between the two countries, especially those reached during General Secretary To Lam's State visit to South Korea in last August.

They committed to fostering mutually beneficial economic cooperation in line with both sides' development goals.

The pair pledged to make science, technology, innovation, digital transformation, and human resource development a new pillar of the bilateral ties, and step up collaboration in education, culture, and people-to-people exchanges to further enhance mutual understanding.

Both sides agreed to work closely and support each other at regional and international forums, accelerate the upgrading of the ASEAN–Korea Free Trade Agreement, and organize the Mekong–Korea Summit in the near future.

The host and the guest shared a common strategic vision on maintaining peace and stability in the East Sea, ensuring legitimate rights and interests in accordance with international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982)./.
