The visit would serve as an important catalyst, propelling the bilateral ties into a new phase of stronger and more dynamic growth, noted the host.
Acknowledging the significant contributions of Viettel Group to the sustainable development of Peru, President Boluarte emphasized that the Peruvian government would continue to facilitate the group to expand operations in the country and participate in projects in fields of digital transformation, digital infrastructure, and smart cities.
She underlined the strategic importance of the Chancay port, set to open during the 2024 APEC Economic Leaders' Week that connects Latin America and Southeast Asia via the Pacific.
The Peruvian President called on Vietnamese businesses to take part in investment projects related to the development of logistics, industrial, and multimodal technology centers related to this port.
She expected that Viet Nam would soon establish a diplomatic mission in Lima, Peru.
Luong, for his side, affirmed that Peru has always been a close friend and a top priority partner of Viet Nam in Latin America, adding that Viet Nam hailed Peru's role and position and willing to deepen the bilateral relationship in the coming years.
He congratulated Peru on hosting the APEC for the third time, expressing his confidence that the event would be a success, contributing to the development, connectivity, and prosperity of the Asia-Pacific region as well as upgrading Peru's role and stature on the global stage.
Luong emphasized the significant potential for further cooperation between Viet Nam and Peru, particularly with the benefits brought by the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) to which both countries are signatories.
He urged the Peruvian Government to create favorable conditions and specific policies to help Vietnamese businesses invest and operate effectively in the country.
The Vietnamese leader took the occasion to invite to President Boluarte to pay an official visit to Viet Nam. The latter expressed her gratitude and happily accepted the invitation.
Both leaders expressed their pleasure at the increasingly strong ties between Viet Nam and Peru, which have been nurtured via high-level visits and exchanges across various channels.
They lauded the effective implementation of existing cooperation mechanisms, such as the Deputy Foreign Minister-level political consultations, the Intergovernmental Committee, and strong collaboration at multilateral forums.
Both sides were satisfied with their economic and trade relations, even amidst global economic challenges. Peru is now Viet Nam's sixth-largest trading partner and the most important investment destination for Viet Nam in Latin America.
The two leaders pledged to continue focusing on strengthening cooperation in areas where both countries have strengths and mutual interests such as trade, investment, agriculture, national defense and security, telecommunications, digital transformation, energy, education and training, as well as sharing experiences in poverty reduction, climate change mitigation, culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.
They occurred to actively negotiate and sign bilateral cooperation agreements to establish a legal framework for sustainable development.
The guest and the host vowed to support their business communities in enhancing exchanges and strengthening business cooperation, aiming to increase bilateral trade in line with their potential.
They stressed the necessity of boosting collaboration and mutual support at international organizations, multilateral and interregional forums, including cooperation between Peru and ASEAN, as well as South-South cooperation.
The leaders of both countries engaged in in-depth discussions and shared viewpoints on various regional and global issues of mutual interest.
They asserted to uphold the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter, step up multilateral coordination, promote shared values of peace and cooperation, and peacefully address disputes via peaceful means on the basis of international law.
Following the talks, Boluarte presented the Order "The Sun of Peru" to President Luong Cuong. This prestigious honor reflects the deep appreciation of the Peruvian government and people towards Viet Nam and its people, marking the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
They issued a Joint declaration on enhancing bilateral relations between Viet Nam and Peru and witnessed the signing of a cooperation document in trade promotion.
