The Lao official congratulated Bui on his appointment as Deputy Prime Minister, expressing his belief that Bui will continue making contribution to the successful implementation of foreign affairs tasks assigned by the Vietnamese Party and State.
Bui, for his part, reassured his wish to work closely with the Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister to further strengthen Viet Nam-Laos special ties in general, and the relations between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs in particular.
He vowed to continue support for Laos to successfully undertake international responsibilities in the coming time, especially the roles as the chairmanship of ASEAN and the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) in 2024, contributing to enhancing the role and position of Laos in the region and the world.
Both officials expressed their satisfactions at the fruitful development and trust-building in many fields between the two countries.
In the first seven months this year, the two-way trade value saw a year-on-year increase of 16.7 percent, reaching US$1.1 billion, they noted.
The two sides pledged to effectively carry out agreements reached during high-level visits, especially the State visit to Laos by President To Lam in July 2024 as well as the outcomes of the 46th Viet Nam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee for Bilateral Cooperation meeting.
Regarding coordination at regional and international forums, they affirmed their resolve to promote experience sharing, information exchange, and close coordination at multilateral forums, especially at the United Nations, ASEAN and Mekong sub-regional cooperation mechanisms./.
