Vietnamese, Argentine FMs hold phone conversation
VGP - Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son held a phone conversation with his Argentine counterpart Santiago Andrés Cafiero to discuss prioritized contents to promote the Viet Nam-Argentina comprehensive partnership as the two countries will celebrate the 50th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties next year.

Both sides expressed their delight on the fruitful developments in the bilateral ties amidst COVID-19 outbreaks.
The two-way trade value reached US$4.5 billion in 2021, up 14.1 percent against the previous year. Argentina is the third largest trade partner of Viet Nam in Latin America.
On behalf of the Vietnamese Government, Bui expressed thanks to the Argentine Government for donating 500,000 Astra Zeneca vaccine doses to Viet Nam in November last year.
Viet Nam attaches importance to the relationship with Argentina, he noted, adding that the Southeast Asian nation is willing to join hand with Argentina to promote the comprehensive partnership more extensively and effectively through the exchange of high-level visits and utilization of bilateral and multilateral mechanisms isuch as the WTO and MERCOSUR.
He proposed Argentina create favorable conditions for Viet Nam's farm products such as coffee and fruits as well as Viet Nam's advantageous commodities like garment, footwear, timber and construction materials to get access to Argentina.
He spoke highly of Santiago Andrés Cafiero's proposals of considering expanding cooperation to other sectors such as space technology, satellites, science and technology for agriculture and livestock and energy conversion.
For his part, Santiago Andrés Cafiero stressed that Argentina spoke highly of the role and status of Viet Nam in the region and the world, adding that effective and close traditional relations with Viet Nam in both multi-lateral and bilateral aspects is a crucial factor in Argentina's diplomatic policy in the Asia-Pacific.
He pledged to enhance collaboration in fields of politic-diplomacy, economics and trade and South-South cooperation with Viet Nam as well as join hand in organizing activities to celebrate the 50th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties.
