Prime Minister Pham made the above statement at a meeting with Chairman of the ruling United Russia Party (URP) and Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia Dmitry Medvedev in Ha Noi on May 22.

Pham welcomed Dmitry Medvedev's three-day official visit to Viet Nam, noting that the visit creates an opportunity for the two Parties and nations to increase mutual understanding and boost the bilateral relations for the benefits of their peoples and for the development of both sides.

Viet Nam unwaveringly adheres to the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, diversification and multilateralization of external relations, active international integration; and being a friend, a reliable partner and a responsible member of the international community, assured Pham.

He took the occasion to express thanks to Russian authorities for supporting the Vietnamese citizens in Russia, expecting that Medvedev and the URP would complete the legal basis for them to live and work in the country.

For his part, Dmitry Medvedev asserted that Viet Nam is one of the crucial partners of Russia in the Asia-Pacific region, particularly in Southeast Asia.

Russia hopes to work together with Viet Nam in fostering cooperation in areas where they have strength and needs, he added.

The URP always advocates to develop the Comprehensive strategic partnership with Viet Nam, strengthen collaboration in traditional sectors and expand coordination in other fields such as economics-trade, investment, culture, tourism, local-to-local exchanges and people-to-people links.

Both leaders expressed their delights on achievements in the bilateral relations, including the successful organization of the 24th session of the Viet Nam-Russia Inter-Governmental Committee on Economic, Trade and Scientific-Technological Cooperation.

They emphasized the need to take measures to foster cooperation and deepen bilateral cooperation in all spheres of energy, petrol, science-technology and education-training./.
