Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang made the above statement in response to a reporter's question relating to Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba's announcement that Viet Nam may be affected due to grain deal suspension in the Black Sea, at a press conference held on Thursday.

The Vietnamese Government is deeply concerned about and regards national food security as an extremely important task in the national industrialization and modernization process, and in safeguarding the stability and sustainable development of the nation, emphasized Le.

Official statistics show that Viet Nam produces 41-43 million tons of rice and 6.5 million tons of meats of all kinds every year, meeting the domestic demand, she said.

As one of the world's top farm produce exporters, Viet Nam has made important contribution to concerted efforts to handle food security challenges, added the Spokesperson.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the first 10 months of 2022, the nation earned US$82.1 billion from exporting agro-aquatic-forestry products, up 10.2 percent against the same period last year.

Viet Nam calls on countries to strengthen international cooperation and join hands in responsibly addressing this food security issue, noted Le.
