Viet Nam seriously condemns national flag desecration in the Philippines

VGP - The act of tearing the Vietnamese national flag is an insult to the feelings of the Vietnamese people and must be severely condemned, said Spokesperson of the Viet Nam Foreign Ministry Pham Thu Hang.

Pham made the point at the ministry's regular press briefing in Ha Noi on August 3 in response to reporters' questions about Viet Nam's response to the protest in front of the Vietnamese Embassy in Manila where a group of Filipinos tore the Vietnamese flag.

The red flag with a yellow star in the center is the sacred national flag of Viet Nam, the diplomat said.  

She demanded that the Philippines handle the incident seriously, take effective measures to prevent similar acts which could affect the development of the strategic partnership between the two countries, stressed the spokesperson./.
