Vietnamese Minister of National Defense Phan Van Giang and his Lao counterpart Khamliang Outhakaysone signed the MoU.
The Lao official is paying a working visit to Viet Nam to attend the Viet Nam Defense Expo 2024, the 80th anniversary of Viet Nam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the All People's National Defense Festival.
At the talks held on the same day, the two ministers held that Viet Nam-Laos defense cooperation has achieved significant and substantive achievements, serving as one of the key pillars of the bilateral relationship.
Over five years of implementing the protocol on defense cooperation in the 2020-2024 period, both sides have achieved remarkable outcomes, characterized by strengthened political and strategic trust, thus consolidating solidarity between the two militaries, they noted.
They vowed to effectively and comprehensively implement the protocol on defense cooperation for the 2025-2029 period and the cooperation plan in 2025.
Both ministers underlined the need to enhance all-level delegation exchanges, especially the defense policy dialogue mechanism, and improve the quality of training and human resource development; and bolster cooperation in border management./.
