Twenty years ago, on January 10, 2006, former Prime Minister Phan Van Khai officially launched the Government Website, now the Viet Nam Government Portal (VGP), marking the Government's official presence on the global Internet.
Over the past two decades, VGP has become the Government's official online information channel, playing an important role in disseminating the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's laws, while serving as an effective bridge connecting the Government with citizens and businesses.
Amid the country's ongoing digital transformation, VGP has continued to affirm its pioneering role in applying technology and innovating policy communication methods, thereby enhancing transparency and contributing to the development of a digital Government that better serves people and businesses.
Addressing the ceremony, Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc stressed that the event marked an important milestone in the development and maturity of the Viet Nam Government Portal, which has made increasingly significant contributions to the national press system. The celebration also coincided with the 101st anniversary of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press Day (on June 21).
Pham highly commended VGP's efforts in improving the quality of multi-platform communications through modern, user-friendly and diverse formats. The Portal has been a pioneer in utilizing cross-border social media platforms to communicate the Government's and Prime Minister's directions and policies, attracting around 20 million visits per day.
VGP has also demonstrated dynamism, creativity and proactiveness in organizing live and online dialogues and seminars with the participation of representatives from ministries, sectors, specialized agencies, National Assembly deputies, experts and the business community.
These activities have helped address pressing issues and practical difficulties in a timely manner, providing official information, enhancing transparency and fostering public consensus in policy implementation.
