The event drew the attendance of senior officials from ASEAN Member States, the Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for the ASEAN Political-Security Community, and Timor-Leste as an observer.
During the dialogue, the delegates reviewed the ASEAN-South Korea cooperation, outlined directions and measures to further develop the relations in the coming time, and discussed international and regional situations.
Addressing the event, the Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister highlighted the importance of giving a priority to digital infrastructure development, digital application, digital resource development. He suggested narrowing down digital gaps, developing digital economy, strengthening cooperation in newly emerging areas namely seminconductors, AI, digital data while ensuring cyber security as well as AI governance.
He sought the South Korea's support for ASEAN's common stance on the East Sea as well as efforts to fully and effectively implement the Declaration of the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and soon finalize a Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC) that is effective, efficient, substantive and in accordance with international law, including UNCLOS 1982.
He spoke highly of South Korea's support to ASEAN, especially its commitment of US$30 million for the Korea-ASEAN Digital Innovation Framework (KADIF)./.
