Viet Nam, Cambodia effectively maintain defense cooperation mechanisms

Phan affirmed Viet Nam always attaches importance and gives top priority to consolidating and advancing the relations with Cambodia.

He noted with pleasure at the positive and remarkable outcomes of bilateral defense ties, especially in the fields of delegation exchange, maintenance of dialogue and consultation mechanisms, border management and protection, search for and repatriation of remains of fallen soldiers, and mutual support at multilateral forums.

Phan suggested both countries should continue to maintain the exchange of delegations at all levels and cooperation mechanisms such as the annual meeting of three defense ministers of Viet Nam, Laos, and Cambodia, the joint search and rescue drill of armed forces of Viet Nam, Laos, and Cambodia, and the deputy ministerial-level defense policy dialogue.

Both sides should also step up cooperation in training, border management and protection, search for and repatriation of fallen Vietnamese soldiers and experts from Cambodia.

Prak Sovanna, for his part, congratulated Viet Nam on successful organization of the ASEAN Future Forum, and expressed thanks for Viet Nam's valuable support and assistance for Cambodia in the past and current national development course.
