Former President Tran Duc Luong passes away on May 20 at the age of 88.
A statement from the Venezuelan Foreign Affairs Ministry noted that comrade Tran Duc Luong was one of the most important leaders of the brave Vietnamese nation, who, always adhering to socialist principles, contributed to the development and well-being of his country.
The Bolivarian Republic honored "the great contribution of former President Tran Duc Luong to strengthening the ties of cooperation between Viet Nam and Venezuela."
In this regard, it was highlighted his friendship and joint work with Comandante Hugo Chavez (1954-2013), boosting a strategic relationship that "is today a model of cooperation between developing nations, which has contributed to the well-being of both peoples."
On this sad news, the Venezuelan government once again reaffirmed "its thoughtful brotherhood with Viet Nam, with the commitment to continue strengthening the friendly relations between the Vietnamese and Venezuelan peoples," the statement concluded.

The memorial service will be solemnly held at 7:00 AM on May 25 and the burial will take place at 3:00 PM on the same day in his hometown cemetery in Pho Khanh commune, Duc Pho town of the central province of Quang Ngai.
Throughout his over 50 years of revolutionary activities, he has made great and exceptionally outstanding contributions to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. He was conferred by the Party and State with the Gold Star Order, the 65-year Party membership badge and many other noble orders, medals, awards and titles./.
