In his remarks, Prime Minister Pham thanked the Government and Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio for their warm hospitality and meticulous arrangements for the G7 summit and outreach meetings.
Pham called for global, people-centered approach and strengthened multilateralism to deal with the current unprecedented multiple crises, especially in food, healthcare, and economy.
He emphasized the immediate task of creating new driving forces for global economic growth and recovery in a greener, cleaner and more sustainable fashion.
From that perspective, Prime Minister Pham suggested the need to improve global governance, strengthen policy coordination, particularly interest rate, financial-monetary, trade and investment policies while reforming the multilateral trading system with the World Trade Organization at the core.
Pham welcomed G7 countries' Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Development (PGII) aimed at funding infrastructure projects in developing countries.
He also urged G7 countries to continue green finance assistance for developing countries and cooperate with these countries in strategic infrastructure development, especially transport development.
Promoting global partnership, upholding international solidarity, and unwaveringly pursuing multilateral cooperation are key to resolve the current complicated challenges, Pham stressed.
Pham also spoke highly of the Hiroshima Action Statement Declaration for Resilient Global Food Security, which reaffirms that access to affordable, safe and nutritious food is a basic human need, and shared the importance of working closely together to respond to the worsening global food security crisis with the world facing highest risk of famine in a generation and to build more resilient, sustainable and inclusive agriculture and food systems, including through enhancing stability and predictability in international markets.
Viet Nam stands ready to beef up food production to contribute to the realization of the above-mentioned action statement, according to Prime Minister Pham.
He took the occasion to express thanks to the valuable and timely assistance of the G7 countries and the international community for Viet Nam to contain the COVID-19 pandemic and revive the economy.
Pham affirmed that Viet Nam will always be an active, proactive and responsible member of the international community and the Southeast Asia country is resolved to make positive contributions to the common efforts in addressing global challenges for sustainable development, prosperity and happiness of people around the world./.
