Two new air routes connecting Phu Quoc with New Delhi, Mumbai launched

VGP - Budget carrier Vietjet Air has launched two new routes connecting Phu Quoc Island in the southern province of Kien Giang with India’s cities, New Delhi and Mumbai.

The route connecting Phu Quoc with the largest city of India, Mumbai, inaugurated on September 8 with two return flights per week.

The flight route connecting Phu Quoc with the capital New Delhi officially commenced on September 9 with three return flights per week.

Vietjet is currently the airline operating the most routes between Viet Nam and India with 17 direct routes connecting Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Phu Quoc with the five largest cities of the South Asian country including New Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Bangalore.

In the pre-pandemic period, in 2019, the total number of visitors travelled between Viet Nam and India reached 319,000, growing by 35 percent compared to 2018.

India is one of the leading trade partners of Viet Nam while Viet Nam has emerged to become the 15th largest trade partner of India.

The two-way trade has grown by 20 percent annually on average to over US$13 billion in 2021.

Viet Nam and India set up diplomatic relations in 1972 and elevated the ties to strategic partnership in 2007 and comprehensive strategic partnership in 2016./.
