Tran affirmed that Viet Nam closely minitors the situation in Cuba and reinforces friendship, solidarity, and strong support to Cuba under any circumstances.

Viet Nam maintains a firm stance in demanding the U.S. end its economic and financial embargo and hostile policies against Cuba, he stated.

He also congratulated Cuba on the recent resolution passed at the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, which called for an end to the U.S. economic and trade embargo against Cuba.

The host expressed sympathy to the Party, State, and people of Cuba regarding the loss of lives and property caused by Hurricane Oscar, as well as the difficulties Cuba is facing due to the energy and food crisis.

The top Vietnamese legislator proposed that the two legislative bodies coordinate at international multilateral forums, such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and other multilateral parliamentary organizations of which both sides are members as well as support each other's stances on regional and international issues of mutual concerns.

Hernández, for his part, said that Viet Nam has always been a model for Cuba to learn from, expressing his hope to strengthen the bilateral relationship across various fields, including economy, trade, healthcare, and agriculture with Viet Nam.

The guest highly valued the political relationship and cooperation between the two Parties, emphasizing that relations between the two legislative bodies are an important channel of cooperation, making a substantial contribution to the relationship between the two nations.

He expressed gratitude for Viet Nam's support in sending 10,000 tons of rice for Cuba to cope with food shortages.

Following the visit by General Secretary To Lam, Cuba is implementing agreements signed between the two countries, he said, adding that in the agricultural sector, Vietnamese and Cuban enterprises are working toward the goal of making Cuba become self-sufficient in rice production by 2027.

In the future, Cuba hopes to continue receiving support and advice from Viet Nam in developing renewable energy for households, particularly solar power, Hernández shared.

Both sides expressed their delight in the special traditional friendship between the two nations, which has been continuously strengthened and enhanced across all channels, including Party, State, parliamentary cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges.

This relationship is becoming increasingly profound and substantial in all areas of politics, economics and trade, security, and defense, they underlined.

They hailed the recent State visit to Cuba in September 2024 by General Secretary To Lam, which affirmed the importance and determination to further deepen the special traditional solidarity and friendship between the two nations.

During this visit, both sides issued a Joint Statement affirming their determination to continue developing the bilateral relationship to a new level that is more comprehensive, substantive, effective, and sustainable, noted the two legislators.

They spoke highly of the positive development of relations between the two legislative bodies via high-level visits and significant cooperative activities, remarkably the outcomes of the first meeting of the Viet Nam–Cuba Inter-parliamentary Cooperation Committee, which have reinforced the special and steadfast solidarity between Viet Nam and Cuba.

Both sides acknowledged that there are still many issues and obstacles related to the implementation of policies and laws, asserting to work together in proposing directions and solutions to improve the legal framework, as well as specific measures to address these challenges.

They will consider developing special mechanisms and pilot projects for strategic cooperation initiatives between the two countries, aiming to facilitate cooperation, investment, and exchanges between their businesses and peoples.

Both sides stressed the need to continue promoting all-level delegation exchanges, and foster collaboration among the two friendship groups in legislative matters, oversight, and decision-making on crucial national issues.

The two legislative bodies will enhance the exchange of information and share experiences through direct or online formats regarding the organization of parliamentary activities, as well as the development and improvement of institutions and legal systems in areas of mutual interest.

They vowed to uphold the role of their legislative bodies by focusing on realizing high-level commitments and agreements and explore the possibility of coordinating oversight to actively promote and effectively implement the cooperation documents signed between the two countries.

Both sides agreed that the second meeting of the Viet Nam–Cuba Inter-parliamentary Cooperation Committee will take place in Viet Nam next year on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties./.
