Top leader meets Thai President of National Assembly

To Lam suggested the two sides continue to strengthen political trust by maintaining all-level delegation exchanges and contacts and effectively implement the action program for the Viet Nam–Thailand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for the 2026–2031 period.
He expressed his hope to welcome the King and Queen of Thailand to visit Viet Nam in the near future.
Zaram, for his part, affirmed that Thailand always attaches great importance to its Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Viet Nam.
The elevation of bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in May 2025 has opened up a new phase of development in bilateral relations, said Zaram. He reaffirmed Thailand's desire to promote comprehensive cooperation with Viet Nam, particularly in the areas of economy, trade, education, and tourism.
The Thai National Assembly will continue to work closely with the Vietnamese National Assembly to enhance cooperation at both bilateral and multilateral levels, while stepping up exchanges of experience in legislation, oversight, and decision-making on important national issues, underlined the guest.
The two leaders vowed to continue strengthening defense and security cooperation; closely coordinate in preventing and combating transnational crime; promptly translate the "Three Connections" Strategy into concrete actions; and effectively implement specific cooperation programs and projects to enhance connectivity between the two economies.
They pledged to promote balanced and sustainable growth in bilateral trade, with the aim of raising bilateral trade turnover to US$25 billion.
The two sides underlined the need to foster collaboration within regional and international cooperation mechanisms, particularly ASEAN, Mekong subregional cooperation frameworks, and the United Nations, for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries, making positive contributions to maintaining peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region.
Earlier, on August 7, the top Thai legislator had a meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung./.
