The top Finnish legislator was welcomed at the Noi Bai International Airport by Vice Chairman of the NA’s Committee for Foreign Affairs Le Anh Tuan and Finnish Ambassador to Viet Nam Keijo Norvanto.

The visit is made at the invitation of Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue.

This is the first visit to a country outside Europe by Jussi Halla-aho since he took office.

The visit also targets to mark the 50th founding anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic relations (1973 - 2023).

During the vist, leaders of the two countries will discuss measures to further strengthen economic, trade, and investment cooperation, particularly how to raise trade turnover, increase Finnish investment in Viet Nam, and attract more Finnish businesses to Viet Nam in such areas as high technology, digital transformation, education-training, and component production.

The traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Viet Nam and Finland have been maintained and developed over the past 51 years.

Last year, two-way trade turnover valued US$ 380 million. Finland ranks 58th out of 140 countries and territories investing in Viet Nam with 35 active projects worth over US$47 million./.
