The same day, General Secretary To Lam had a phone call with U.S. President Donald J. Trump on Viet Nam-U.S. relations.

Regarding bilateral trade ties, the two leaders discussed the means to step up trade cooperation between the two sides, in which General Secretary To Lam affirmed that Viet Nam stood ready to negotiate with the U.S. to reduce the tariffs on U.S. exports to Viet Nam to 0%, and requested the U.S. to do the same for Vietnamese exports to the U.S.

General Secretary To Lam also said that Viet Nam would continue to import more goods from the U.S., and create more favorable conditions for American companies to further invest in Viet Nam./.
