State leader hosts Special Envoy of Palestinian President

President Luong praised the significance of the ongoing Viet Nam visit by Prof. Riad Malki, Special Envoy of the Palestinian President, saying that it contributes to further strengthening the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

The Vietnamese leader highlighted the historical bond between Viet Nam and Palestine, a friendship nurtured through common struggles for national independence and liberation and by successive generations of their leaders and people.

He said Viet Nam welcomes and supports all international mediation and reconciliation efforts to achieve a lasting and fair peaceful solution in the Middle East.

He reaffirmed Viet Nam's consistent stance on strongly supporting the two-state solution, which includes the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian State based on the pre-1967 border, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international law and relevant UN resolutions.

Viet Nam is ready to cooperate with Palestine and the international community, within its capabilities, to contribute to humanitarian aid efforts along with mediation and reconciliation activities to achieve this essential goal, he asserted.

For his part, the Special Envoy of the Palestinian President, conveyed President Mahmoud Abbas's congratulations to President Cuong on his recent election to the new role, along with a letter from President Abbas emphasizing the desire to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Viet Nam further.

The Envoy also voiced his admiration for Viet Nam's significant achievements, considering the country a successful model in national development and progress.

He shared the latest updates on the situation in Palestine and expressed deep appreciation for Viet Nam's steadfast stance in supporting the legitimate and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.

Notably, Malki vowed close coordination to accelerate the realization of commitments and outcomes of this visit to further strengthen the bilateral solidarity, traditional friendship and cooperation, meeting the expectations of leaders and people of both nations.

At the meeting, both sides agreed on the need to share ideas to bolster collaboration in promising fields actively. This includes continuing mutual support at international forums and organizations, especially the UN.

Both countries will also step up bilateral cooperation mechanisms, firstly the political consultation mechanism between the two foreign ministries, and increase in exchanges between friendship and people's solidarity associations to reinforce the countries' unity and mutual understanding./.
