RoK lifts mandatory quarantine for travellers from Viet Nam

The KDCA's move will allow travelers from Viet Nam to enjoy the quarantine-free policy.

Myanmar and Ukraine were also removed from the list following KDCA's meeting on March 31 during which it analyzed COVID-19 risks from each country and the number of infections among the arrivals in the RoK.

On March 18, the KDCA decided to list Viet Nam among the countries subjected to strengthened medical supervision as part of its measures to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

Accordingly, from April 1, travelers from Viet Nam, vaccinated or unvaccinated against COVID-19, will have to take a mandatory seven-day quarantine. Flights from Viet Nam to the RoK will be allowed to carry passengers equivalent to only 60 percent of their capacity.

Despite the high case number, the fatalities and critical cases in Viet Nam are very low while the rate of people getting booster shots against COVID-19 in Viet Nam is very high. The country is considering the injection of the fourth COVID-19 doses.

Viet Nam lifts mandatory quarantine, resume pre-pandemic visa issueance

Viet Nam decided to resume pre-pandemic visa issuance and lift mandatory quarantine requirement upon arrival in order to fully revitalize its tourism industry from March 15, 2022.

The Southeast Asian country also resumed its unilateral visa exemption policy for citizens from 13 countries including the RoK.

Under the policy, citizens from the aforesaid countries shall not have to apply for visa if duration of stay does not exceed 15 days since the date of arrival.

The policy shall only be applicable from March 15, 2022 to March 14, 2025 and may be considered for extension.

Viet Nam closed borders to foreign tourists from March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thanks to effective implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign launched on March 8, 2021, the Government decided to switch away from zero COVID policy to safe and flexible adaptation to the pandemic and gradual recovery of economic activities, including phased resumption of inbound tourism from last November.

The Government decided to allow foreign tourists to visit the Southeast Asian country since March 15 without requiring them to book tour packages.
