Prime Minister receives PCA Secretary-General

Prime Minister Pham appreciated the close and active cooperation between the PCA and Viet Nam, welcoming the PCA to open its office in the country, and pledging to create the best conditions for the operation of the office in line with the regulations and law.

Viet Nam is a peace-loving country, a responsible member of the international community, and always upholds multilateralism and the basic principles of international law recognized in the United Nations Charter, including the principle of peaceful settlement of international disputes, emphasized the Prime Minister.

The country always upholds the compliance with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), said the Prime Minister, adding that Viet Nam highly appreciates the PCA's role in assisting countries to peacefully resolve international disputes by arbitration.

The Prime Minister voiced his hope for further cooperation with the PCA in consultation, experience sharing, and assistance in handling disputes in the process of international integration.

He recommended the PCA Office in Ha Noi employ more Vietnamese staff, saying this move will improve the international legal qualifications of Vietnamese experts.

For his part, Marcin Czepelak hailed Viet Nam's strong commitments and role in fostering the compliance of the United Nations Charter and international law.

He expected that the opening of the PCA office in Ha Noi, which was held on the occasion of his trip to Viet Nam, will serve as a bridge for increasing collaboration between the sides.

He expressed his hope that with the support to the PCA Office, Viet Nam will continue manifesting its commitments and responsibility, contributing to promoting international law enforcement, and addressing international disputes by peaceful means on the basis of international law.

The PCA will continue enhancing collaboration and supporting priorities of Viet Nam, especially in training international legal experts, asserted Marcin Czepelak.

The PCA is an intergovernmental international organization with 122 member states, whose function is to facilitate the settlement of international disputes between states or between countries with foreign legal entities in the field of economic-investment.

The PCA has assisted in resolving many international disputes in areas such as borders, territories, maritime delimitation, and economic-investment.

PCA currently has its headquarters in the Peace Palace (The Hague), the Netherlands, and five offices in Mauritius, Buenos Aires (Argentina), Singapore, Vienna (Austria) and Ha Noi (Viet Nam)./.
