Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to attend expanded G7 Summit in Japan

VGP – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is set to attend the expanded G7 Summit in Japan from May 19-21 at the invitation of his Japanese counterpart Kishida Fumio.

This is the third time Viet Nam has been invited to an expanded G7 Summit and the second time at the invitation of Japan.

Japan also invited Indonesia – the current ASEAN Chair – to this year's summit.

Viet Nam and Japan established diplomatic ties on September 21, 1973.

The Northeast Asian nation is Viet Nam's 4th largest trading partner, with the two-way trade value reaching about US$50 billion last year.

By the end of 2022, Japan has nearly 5,000 active projects in Viet Nam, with a total registered capital of US$69 billion, ranking it third among 143 countries and territories investing in the Southeast Asian country.

Japan is also the top provider of official development assistance for Viet Nam, with accommulative volume of around US$29.3 billion, including US$1.8 billion in non-refundable aid.
