Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh meets Vietnamese expats in Beijing

VGP - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in China upon his arrival in Beijing on June 25 for an official visit to China and attendance to the 14th Annual Meeting of the New Champions (AMNC) of the World Economic Forum (WEF).

The Prime Minister briefed the expats on Viet Nam’s development orientations as well as difficulties facing the economy.

He highlighted the positive developments in the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Viet Nam and China. 

The Government leader highly valued the community’s contributions to the homeland and the Viet Nam-China relations, and reaffirmed the Vietnamese Party and State always consider 5.3 million overseas Vietnamese, including those in China, an integral part of the great national unity bloc.

He acknowledged their opinions and said he would direct relevant ministries and agencies to consider their proposals. 

He encouraged the community to constantly uphold the tradition of solidarity and mutual assistance to overcome difficulties, actively integrate into their host community and help bolster the comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership between the two countries.

There are approximately 43,000 Vietnamese nationals living, studying and working in China. 

This is the first official visit by Prime Minister Pham and the first by a Vietnamese Prime Minister to China since 2016. It is also the first time key leaders of the two countries directly meet after China completed the State leadership for the new tenure.   

During his stay, Prime Minister Pham is expected to hold talks with Chinese Premier Li Qiang, have meetings with Party General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping as well as Chairman of the 14th National People's Congress Standing Committee Zhao Leji.

He will attend important meetings of the 14th Annual Meeting of the New Champions (AMNC) of the WEF and have bilateral meetings with WEF Founder and Executive Chairman Klaus Schwa and leaders of some countries and international organizations.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister will also take part in a Viet Nam - China business forum./.
