Prime Minister begins four-day official visit to China
VGP - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Sunday began his four-day official visit to China where he will also attend the 14th World Economic Forum Annual Meeting of the New Champions.
Prime Minister Pham's tour is made at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum Klaus Schwab.
He is accompanied by Minister of National Defense Phan Van Giang, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Tran Van Son, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Dang Quoc Khanh, Chairman of the Commission for State Capital Management at Enterprises Nguyen Hoang Anh, Deputy Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang, Standing Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu, Cice Chairman of the Party Central Committee's Office Bui Van Thach, and Ambassador of Viet Nam to China Pham Sao Mai.
During his official visit to China, Pham is scheduled to hold talks with his Chinese counterpart Li Qiang and meet with Chinese senior leaders.
This year Viet Nam and China celebrate 15 years of their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
China was the first country in the world to establish diplomatic relations with Viet Nam when it did so in January 1950.
Viet Nam is China's biggest trading partner in Southeast Asia, and China is Viet Nam's largest trading partner. The two-way trade was estimated at US$175.57 billion last year.
On October 30, 2022, Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong paid a three-day official trip to China. He was the first foreign leader to visit Beijing after the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
Along with his China visit, Prime Minister Pham will attend the 14th WEF Annual Meeting of the New Champions, also known as the Summer Davos Forum, scheduled to open in northern China's Tianjin Municipality on June 27.
About 1,500 leaders from both the public and private sectors from over 90 countries will take part in the three-day event, according to Xinhua.
The WEF, founded in 1971, is the world's leading economic and policy forum and attracts the interest of experts and politicians from around the world.
PM Pham met WEF leader Schwab in Cambodia in November 2022 on the sidelines of the ASEAN Summit.
Viet Nam is among the regular invitees to the annual WEF conference in Davos, Switzerland./.
