Prime Minister holds meetings with foreign leaders on sidelines of BRICS Summit

At the meeting with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Pham affirmed that Kazakhstan is an important partner of Viet Nam in the Central Asian region.

Viet Nam always treasures and expects to further strengthen the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two nations, which has been nurtured by their leaders and peoples for the last 30 years, stressed the Vietnamese leader.

Tokayev congratulated Vietnamese President Luong Cuong on assuming his new position, expressing his hope to soon welcome General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong to visit Kazakhstan.

He thanked the Vietnamese government and people for the warm and thoughtful reception during his visit to Viet Nam in August 2023.

The two leaders vowed to enhance all-level delegation exchanges, and foster collaboration in economics, trade, and investment, striving to raise bilateral trade to a higher level.

They underlined the need to further facilitate cooperation in transportation, aviation, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

During the meeting with President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedow, Pham reiterated that Viet Nam attaches importance to the traditional friendly relationship and wishes to deepen cooperation with Turkmenistan across all areas, especially by enhancing high-level exchanges and contacts.

He called on both sides effectively tap into cooperation potential in trade and investment and promote tourism, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people interactions.

Berdimuhamedow said he highly appreciates Viet Nam's role and status, as well as the achievements the Southeast Asian nation has made in the renewal and development process.

He agreed on the need to implement measures to promote the traditional relationship between the two countries in the coming time, particularly by enhancing delegation exchanges and high-level contacts, and seeking solutions to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation.

Regarding the meeting with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Prime Minister Pham asserted that Viet Nam hopes to further strengthen multifaceted cooperation with Ethiopia, one of Viet Nam's important partners in the African region.

He proposed the two sides enhance collaboration in promising areas such as trade, investment, and agriculture.

Ahmed underscored the importance of the relationship with Viet Nam and expressed his great impression of Viet Nam's socio-economic development achievements.

He spoke highly of Viet Nam's position and role on the international stage, recommending both sides further step up bilateral cooperation, and expressing his hope to soon welcome senior Vietnamese leaders to visit Ethiopia.

At the meetings, Pham and the foreign leaders underlined that they will enhance consultation and coordination at regional and international forums./.
