Pham, who is on a two-day official visit to Cambodia, made the above statement on Wednesday morning while visiting the hospital in Phnom Penh capital, Cambodia.

According to Ton Thanh Tra, Director of the Cho Ray Phnom Penh Hospital, the hospital came into operation in 2014. This is the first healthcare cooperation project between the two countries.

The 500-bed hospital has total investment capital of US$47 million, of which around US36 million has been spent on the hospital's first phase with 200 beds.

It is managed and operated by Cho Ray-Phnom Penh Joint Venture Co Ltd., jointly set up by Saigon Medical Investment Joint Stock Company and Sokimex Co of Cambodia.

During its operation, the hospital will be given assistance from Vietnamese doctors at Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City.

The hospital is expected to help ease patient overload in hospitals in Cambodia and better meet the demand for medical examination and treatment of residents in Phnom Penh and its neighboring localities.

Ton said the hospital has become a reliable treatment facility in Cambodia. The number of patients increased rapidly in recent years and reached 117,000 in the first ten months this year, up 37 percent from 2021.

It has 25 departments such as surgery, internal medicine, obstetrics, pediatrics, cardiology, trauma, orthopedics, emergency aid, imaging diagnosis, medical testing, general examination, and treatment for out-patients. All departments are equipped with advanced medical equipment and facilities that meet European standards./.
