Viet Nam and Laos established diplomatic ties in 1962, and the two countries have since maintained the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation through reciprocal visit exchanges, helping to increase their political trust and outline future cooperation orientations.

Viet Nam is the third largest foreign investor in Laos, with 241 valid projects totaling approximately US$5.5 billion./.
