President for COP 26 Alok Kumar Sharma made the above statement in his online meeting with Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha on July 11.

Sharma spoke highly of Viet Nam's actions and outcomes after the COP26.

Both sides discussed the implementation of commitments at COP26, the National Strategy on Climate Change by 2050, the update plan for the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC), and the content of Viet Nam's Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP).

They agreed to organize in-person meetings to foster actions to implement climate change response and commitments.

The Vietnamese Minister said that the National Strategy on Climate Change by 2050 sets out specific and general goals on climate change adaptation and mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions with the target of achieving net zero emissions by 2050.

He suggested the President for COP 26 urge relevant parties and the Group of Seven (G7) to soon realize financial support commitments to help Viet Nam actively carry out its transition process.

Tran said Viet Nam is actively preparing for its participation at the COP27.
