Tran reiterated that Viet Nam always attaches great importance and gives top priority to advancing the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and strategic ties with Laos.

The two sides vowed to enhance the effectiveness of economic, trade, and investment cooperation to raise trade volume to US$10 billion in the near future.

Both sides underlined the need to boost strategic connectivity between the two economies more closely, with a focus on implementing key projects, including transport infrastructure.

They pledged to further consolidate bilateral relations, while creating strong momentum to promote deeper, more practical, and effective development of ties between the two Parties and the two countries in the new phase.

They vowed to work closely in effectively implementing agreements reached between the two Parties and Governments, especially the outcomes of the annual meeting between the two Politburos in December 2025, the 2026 cooperation plan, the Agreement on the Viet Nam-Laos Cooperation Strategy for the period 2021-2030, and the Viet Nam–Laos Cooperation Agreement for 2026–2030.

The two countries will continue to maintain regular high-level visits and exchanges at all levels, and join hands in organizing events to commemorate the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Viet Nam-Laos Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation during the Viet Nam-Laos and Laos-Viet Nam Friendship and Solidarity Year 2027.

Both sides affirmed to strengthen collabration in combating transnational crime, drug trafficking, and cybercrime.

They emphasized the need to create breakthroughs in economic, trade, and investment cooperation; enhance connectivity in development space and infrastructure; and prioritize the implementation of strategic projects linking key transport and energy infrastructure between the two countries.

The two leaders also agreed to promote stronger linkages in education, training, and human resource development as well as local-to-local exchanges, especially border provinces.

The same day, Tran held talks with Vilay Lakhamphong, Politburo member and Permanent member of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee's Secretariat.

They witnessed the exchange of cooperation documents, including a cooperation project on archival, documentation and library work for the 2026–2030 period between the Office of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee and the Office of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee, and a memorandum of understanding between Dien Bien province of Viet Nam and Luang Namtha province of Laos for the 2026–2029 period./.
