The Port of Rotterdam Authority is an autonomous company with two shareholders, the Municipality of Rotterdam and the Dutch state, established to develop the port of Rotterdam.

The Authority manages a port area of more than 12,500 hectares and owns about 89 kilometers of quay walls.

The port campus generates about half a million jobs and contributes around 8 percent to the Netherlands' GDP.

Pham's working session aims to learn the Netherlands' experience in seaport development and explore the possibility of building an international transit port in Viet Nam.

He expressed his hope that the working session would be the initial step for long-term cooperation in seaport development between Viet Nam and the Netherlands, adding that the Ministry of Transport will continue working with the Dutch side.

Pham also asked the Port of Rotterdam Authority to continue feasibility studies of building an international transit port in Viet Nam.

In a recent interview with the VGP, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Viet Nam Kees van Baar said that 60 per cent of all Vietnamese exports for the European market enter the continent via the Dutch port of Rotterdam.

Over time, a bond between these cities' ports has emerged, which was strengthened by the visit of Rotterdam's Mayor Aboutaleb to Viet Nam in July this year, said the Ambassador.

Following the working session, Prime Minister Pham left the Netherlands for official visit to Belgium where he will also attend a summit commemorating the 45th founding anniversary of the ASEAN-EU relations./.
