As Viet Nam's largest island, Phu Quoc is celebrated for its unspoiled beaches such as Bai Kem and Bai Sao, its rich biodiversity, and its blend of cultural and historical attractions.

According to the Viet Nam National Authority of Tourism, Phu Quoc welcomed more than 4.5 million visitors in the first five months of 2025, up 33.3 percent year-on-year, equivalent to 61.1 percent of its target this year.

Notably, international arrivals reached nearly 900,000, a 76.7 percent surge compared to the same period in 2024, reflecting the island's growing global allure.

Travel + Leisure is one of the world's most respected travel and lifestyle publications, widely regarded for curating premium and distinctive experiences for international travelers.

In this year's awards, Phu Quoc was the only Vietnamese destination to make the top rankings, placing just behind Bali (Indonesia) and Koh Samui (Thailand).

Other destinations on the list included Palawan (Philippines), Phuket (Thailand), Langkawi (Malaysia), Sri Lanka, and Sumba (Indonesia).

Phu Quoc aims to model green development, installing waste-to-energy plants, tightening waste management, and slashing plastic use by 30 percent by 2030. The island was selected as the host for APEC 2027 — a prestigious opportunity that will transform the island into a focal point for international diplomacy, investment, and tourism./.
