Over 1.6 million SIM cards locked

VGP - As many as 1.67 million mobile subscribers haven’t been able to make or receive phone calls and messages since last Saturday as they did not provide accurate personal information, according to the Viet Nam Telecommunications Authority (VTA).

Those with unverified information will have their mobile phone numbers withdrawn on May 15.

A representative from the VTA under the Ministry of Information and Communications reported that as of late April 15, 1.67 million subscribers with unverified information had been one-side locked. They are not allowed to make phone calls or send text messages.

From April 1 to 15, over 520,000 mobile phone subscribers had their information verified at the request by the Ministry of Information and Communications.

There remain about 1.67 million unverified subscribers.

Mobile users are advised to follow the verification request to avoid being locked. Subscribers can text 'TTTB' to number 1414 without fees to know if the subscription is verified or not.
