Local cooperation is distinctive feature of Viet Nam-Japan relations: Prime Minister

The Prime Minister made the above statement during his reception for leaders from Japanese localities and businesses attending the Viet Nam-Japan Local Cooperation Forum which took place in Quang Ninh province, on November 25.

Pham said, the Government of Viet Nam always regards local cooperation as a channel for practical and effective cooperation, contributing to the development of the bilateral ties.

The Prime Minister called on both sides to continue to concretize the signed cooperation documents and put them into practical implementation, bringing benefits to both countries.

He emphasized the need to proactively and actively strengthen exchanges and delegation visits while actively encouraging Japanese enterprises to increase investment in Viet Nam and vice versa.

It is necessary to create favorable conditions for businesses from both countries to launch effective investment and operation, linked with technology transfer, and foster stronger ties in training high-quality human resources, said Pham.

The leader urged both sides to strengthen people-to-people exchanges and tourism and promote collaboration in science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, green development, circular economy, and creative economy.

The same day, Pham had meetings with Governor of Gunma Prefecture Yamamoto Ichita and Special Advisor to the Japan-Viet Nam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance Takebe Tsutomu. 

The Viet Nam-Japan Local Cooperation Forum, chaired by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in coordination with the Japanese Embassy in Viet Nam and the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee, demonstrates the determination to elevate local connections between the two sides.

The forum is the first local-level dialogue and connection mechanism between the two countries, focusing on promoting practical and effective cooperation in traditional areas, aiming towards new fields where both sides have strengths and needs.

With the theme "Accompanying Development - Creating a Sustainable Future", the forum is a comprehensive connection activity, combining various contents on economic diplomacy, cultural diplomacy, and people-to-people exchanges with specific orientations./.
