According to the Decision, there were 3,491 key energy-using facilities, including 2,864 industrial production facilities, 18 agricultural production facilities, 70 transport units, and 539 construction works.
Specifically, Ha Noi is home to 242 key energy-using facilities, including Viet Nam National Children's Hospital, Viet Duc University Hospital, Viet Nam Oil and Gas Group.
The northern province of Thai Nguyen has 64 key energy-use facilities such as Thai Nguyen Iron and Steel Joint Stock Company, Samsung Electronics Viet Nam Thai Nguyen, and Quan Trieu Cement Joint Stock Company.
Da Nang city has 59 facilities. Lam Dong province houses 16 others. Binh Duong province owns 334. HCMC has 333 facilities. Can Tho province has 75 ones.
The Deputy Prime Minister tasked the Ministry of Industry and Trade to work with relevant ministries, agencies and localities to strengthen energy management and ensure energy safety efficiency in line with Decree 21/2011-ND-CP, dated March 29, 2011 of the Government detailing the Law on Economical and Efficient Use of Energy and measures for its implementation.
On June 8, 2023, the Prime Minister issued Directive No. 20/CT-TTg on strengthening electricity savings from 2023 to 2025 and the following years, in which the Government sets a target of saving 2 percent of electricity consumption annually and outlined measures for ministries, agencies, localities, and electricity users to implement to meet these goals.
The National Program on Energy Efficiency and Conservation for the 2019-2030 period, aims to achieve 8-10 percent savings in total national energy consumption by 2030 and contribute to Viet Nam’s net-zero ambitions./.
