Specifically, export turnover in June was estimated at US$29.3 billion, up 4.5 percent against the previous month but down 11.4 percent compared to last year's June.

Notably, vegetables and fruits in the first half of June surpassed seafood to become the leading farm produce export.

In the first six months, export turnover was estimated at US$164.45 billion, down 12.1 percent over the same period last year. This is because major import markets sank deeply into inflation, causing a sharp drop in import demand for many key commodities of Viet Nam.

While export of goods to all significant markets decreased, there is a bright spot that exports to China have recovered quite strongly.

Import turnover in June 2023 was estimated at US$26.71 billion, up 2.6 percent against the previous month and down 16.9 percent over the same period last year.

In the first six months, import turnover was estimated at US$152.2 billion, down 18.2 percent over the same period last year.

The U.S. was the top importer of Viet Nam's goods in January-June period with US$44.2 billion while China was the biggest exporter of Viet Nam with US$50.1 billion./.
