The move was made as the COVID-19 pandemic has been brought under control as evidenced by sharp decrease in the daily number of COVID-19 infections and deaths and high vaccination rate.
As of May 4, Viet Nam confirmed a total of 10,662,446 COVID-19 infection cases, ranking 12th among 227 countries and territories in the world and 104th in term of the number of COVID-19 infections per one million population., according to the ministry.
The average daily number of deaths over the last seven days was only two, the ministry added.
Approximately 96 percent of adolescences aged 12-17 have been fully vaccinated while nearly 55 million adults got booster shots while more than 1.5 million children aged 5-11 received the first jabs of COVID-19 vaccines./.
