Greece welcomes skilled manpower from Viet Nam

Mitsotakis made the above statement during his meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on the sidelines of the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference in Nice, France on June 9.

Mitsotakis also said Greece is ready to consider signing a labor cooperation agreement with Viet Nam and suggested both sides should open direct air route to promote people-to-people exchanges.

Pham, for his side, called on Greece to strengthen agriculture cooperation with Viet Nam to ensure food security, and to sign a bilateral agreement on visa exemption.

He urged the Greek side to push for early ratification of the EU-Viet Nam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and for EC's removal of yellow card warning against Vietnamese seafood exports.

The two leaders agreed to work together to efffectively tap the opportunities from the EU-Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) in a bid to boost bilateral trade exchanges.

The pair also discussed ways to strengthen coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums, including support for each other's bid to win seat on major agencies of the United Nations.

The Greek Prime Minister stressed that the two countries share many common concerns, uphold and respect the Untied Nations Charter, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Both sides also attach importance to ensuring maritime security and safety and to promoting trade liberalization./.
