The Government also requested the Ministry of Public Security to consider using FaceID and electronic passports to make it more convenient for foreign arrivals.
Viet Nam currently offers unilateral visa exemption for citizens from 13 countries – Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the UK, Russia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Belarus.
Since August 15, 2023, it has granted multiple-entry tourist visas of up to three months for citizens from all countries and territories, as opposed to previously 30 days.
Foreigners with e-visa can now enter or exit via the following nine airports: Noi Bai International Airport (Ha Noi capital), Tan Son Nhat International Airport (Ho Chi Minh city), Cam Ranh International Airport (Khanh Hoa province), Da Nang International Airport (Da Nang city), Cat Bi International Airport (Hai Phong city), Can Tho International Airport (Can Tho city), Phu Quoc International Airport (Kien Giang province), and Phu Bai International Airport (Thua Thien-Hue province); Van Don International Airport (Quang Ninh province).
Last year, the country welcomed 12.6 million foreign visitors, nearly 3.5 times higher than in 2022 but equivalent to around 70 percent of the number recorded in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic broke out.
This year, the country targets to welcome 17-18 million international arrivals, equivalent to the pre-pandemic figures./.
